What options are available if I want to move?

We have a number of home transfer schemes available to our customers who want to find a new home. The more schemes you apply for, the better chance you have of finding the right home.

Housing Jigsaw

Housing Jigsaw is A2Dominion’s in-house, choice-based lettings website for affordable and social housing tenants who want to find a new home. The system allows you to bid for rental properties advertised by A2dominion. Visit housingjigsaw.co.uk to find out more.

Locata

Locata is a choice-based lettings scheme for social housing customers in the West London boroughs of Hillingdon, Harrow, Brent and Ealing. The scheme is open to customers living in other areas of London who want to move to one of these 4 boroughs. To apply visit locata.org.uk.

Seaside and country homes

The seaside and country homes scheme is open to two person households living in council or housing association properties in London where at least one member of the household is aged 55 or over. You can find if you are eligible and apply online.

Mutual exchange with Homeswapper

Homeswapper is an independent Mutual Exchange Scheme, where you can exchange properties with other customers from local authorities or housing associations. To register and search for other customers interested in doing a mutual exchange, visit homeswapper.co.uk.

Searchmoves

Searchmoves is a choice based lettings scheme run by Spelthorne Borough Council in which customers can choose where they want to live in the boroughs of Spelthorne and Elmbridge. To find out more and apply, visit searchmoves.org.uk or contact the local authority.

New generation scheme

The new generation scheme is an A2Dominion initiative to ease household overcrowding by offering separate housing to non-dependent adults, such as children over 18 years old. To find out more, contact under.occupation@a2dominion.co.uk.

Local authority waiting lists

You can contact your local authority or the authority for the area you'd like to move to and register with them. For a list of contact details for local authorities, visit direct.gov.uk. Please be aware that each authority has its own criteria for tenants so you may not be able to find a home in the area you want to move to in this way.

Intermediate rent

Our intermediate rent properties are designed for customers looking for short or mid-term housing in London and southern England. They are let at less than the market rate on an assured short-hold tenancy agreement. You can find out more on our website a2dominion.co.uk/lettings.

Some of these homes are allocated for public sector key workers, such as teachers, police officers, NHS workers, and firefighters. For a list of key worker professions and to find out if you are eligible, visit homebuyservice.co.uk.

Private rental

There is a high demand for social housing, and so renting privately can mean that you can move more quickly. You can find out more on our website.

Home ownership

How to improve your chances of finding a new home

We will do our best to help you find a new home, but it's important to remember that secure, affordable housing is in high demand and we are required to supply a majority of our vacant properties to local authorities.

To give you a better chance of finding the right new home, we recommend:

Apply to as many schemes as possible
Broaden your search to include as many areas and types of property as you can
Make sure your registrations on the schemes stay up to date and check for new properties regularly
